With water being the market of the present and future, we do believe that we will be able to address this pressing water issue nationwide and globally. Around the world, water is considered a precious commodity. 1.2 billion people around the world live in an area where water resource is scarce. In addition, pollution has made much of the water undrinkable and unsafe for use. Water shortage is already a serious problem in many regions of the world, including southern Spain, the Maghreb, the Middle East, Central Asia, Pakistan, Southern India and Northern China. In the Americas, California, the US Midwest, Mexico and the Andes are the worst-hit areas. In fact, in early 2014, California declared a state of emergency due to exceptional drought, and southeastern Brazil has experienced the worst drought in its history. The availability of water in individual countries is measured by the Water Exploitation Index (WEI), which records water consumption as a percentage of annually renewable water reserves. A WEI of 20% is a critical value that signals the beginning of a water shortfall. Several countries in Europe – including Belgium, Cyprus, Italy, Malta, and Spain – have a WEI of more than 20%. Countries with a WEI of more than 40% suffer from extreme water shortages and no longer use their available reserves in a sustainable manner. The situation is particularly critical in Africa, Southeast /Central Asia and parts of South America. According to the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), about 2.5 billion people worldwide have no access to adequate sanitation. Based on the forecast of the water crisis that is on the rise globally which will affect millions around the world, we do feel that the time is right for the launch of GV Medhini.
