Uniqueness Of PUR

Animal testing kills more than 100 million animals every year. This includes, mice, frogs, rats, cats, rabbits, pigs, guinea pigs, hamsters, monkeys, fishes and birds. Laboratory experiments are done for various purposes which includes cosmetic testing, drugs, foods and chemical testing. With the current advancement in technology, there are many non-invasive imaging techniques such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT) scan, and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) scan can be used to create computer models for testing purposes. With so many options available, it is definitely an ethical choice to choose a product like PUR which is free from animal testing.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is the substance that gives the bubbly, soapy, lathery consistency. Many of us associate this with a sense of feeling clean. The fact remains that, SLS is actually an irritant which strips the skin of its natural oils. This is what causes dry skin, irritation and allergic reaction. In some severe cases, a trigger to skin diseases such a eczema and psoriasis. SLS also causes irritation to the eyes. . Continuous use of SLS causes the skin to be more penetrable and vulnerable to foreign irritants. These lathery substance with prolonged use on face makes it even more oilier. SLS overly counterbalances for this loss of oils that has been harshly removed from the skin surface, PUR does not advocate the use of such harsh chemicals.

Parabens are bad both for human and environment. Paraben is a substance that prolongs the shelf life of health and beauty products. It prevents molds and bacteria from growing. There are many types of parbens to look out for: butylparaben, methylparaben and propylparaben. The challenge with paraben is that it is able to penetrate our skin and stay within us. What is worst is that paraben is able to disturb our normal hormonal functions particularly oestrogen. Too much of oestrogen increases breast cell division and growth of tumours hence paraben is linked to breast cancer and reproductive issues. The penetration capacity of paraben is so high that it has also been found in marine animals. Researchers suspect that these were caused by parabens from our products which has leaked to the seas and oceans. PUR does not support the use of chemicals which are carcinogenic in nature.
